The Rapp Memorial Garden

Nestled on the grounds of The Poet’s House, the Rapp Memorial Garden is a permanent civic landscape designed to inspire and pay tribute to the lifelong devotion of Dr. George and Peggy Rapp.

Together, the Rapps helped transform New Harmony into a premier national arts destination, establishing the Hoosier Salon gallery and co-founding “First Brush of Spring.” Peggy, a charter member of the New Harmony Garden Club, shared a passion for beauty and community that continues to bloom here today. This space honors their enduring legacy—a gift to the town they so dearly loved.

The Poet's House

The Poet’s House is a beautifully restored original Harmonist house. Its connection to the arts is deeply rooted in its history, having welcomed numerous writers, poets, artists and other creatives over the years. The design of The Rapp Memorial Garden is inspired by the productive traditions of the Harmonist movement and aims to nourish and enrich the creative spirits of its guests and visitors. This intentional design allows the garden to offer fresh perspectives, vibrant colors and varied textures throughout each season, ensuring that it remains a dynamic and engaging space, no matter what time of year.
